A few of our favorites and some local recommendations:

www.beachesofsouthwalton.com  A tourist information website with lots of information about South Walton area. There is a visitors information building on the corner on HWY 98 and US 331 in Florida.

Alys Beach, Seaside, and Rosemary Beach have free outdoor concerts. Bring chairs, a blanket and enjoy the evening under the stars.

www.alysbeach.com Alys is a beautiful Bermuda style community just 1/2 mile to the east of our cottage. A short bike ride away and you can be at the children's playground sipping a coffee and enjoying donuts from Charlie's Donut Truck nearby, however get there early as they sell out fast.  So good! George's is a fabulous dinner spot, breakfast at Fonville Press, with Raw & Juicy nearby, and so many beautiful areas for a morning walk. Concerts in the green amphitheater are always fun for adults and kids and there is a splash pool at the back of the amphitheater. 

www.seasidefl.com  Seaside is just 6 miles from our cottage heading west on 30-A.  Seaside was the original community along 30A and there are many food trucks, shops,  dining options, and concerts.  Busy in Summer!  Our personal favorite is The Great Southern Café restaurant.  

www.rosemarybeach.com Rosemary is just 1 ½ miles from our cottage heading east on 30A.  It has boutique shops, casual and fine dining, a great little bookstore, and a few coffee shops.  Easter Sunrise service on the greens is wonderful.  Kids love the Sugar Shack!

Restaurants: Just a few favs...

Fonville Press in Alys Beach is a favorite place for coffee on the patio and amazing croissants!  They offer a small market for quick items and lunch sandwiches etc. 

Canopy Road Cafe at 30Avenue is so good for breakfast and lunch!   Also has small outdoor area and a second location across from Clay Gardens on 30A.

Amici 30A Italian Kitchen in Inlet Beach has fantastic pizza and Italian food!  Carry out is an option as well.  If in the mood for Mexican, try next door at Amigo's!

Grayton Beach Seafood is a great choice for inside or outside dining, and the food is so good!  Try the onion rings because if you see them you will wish you had done so.

Craving  more Italian?  Borago on 30A near Grayton Beach is our recommendation!

Gallion's in Rosemary Beach is really good, more affordable for lunch, and also has outdoor dining with a stroll around Rosemary Beach shops afterward

George's at Alys Beach is excellent for any meal and has indoor and outdoor dining.  The Grouper sandwich is a must!

Bruno's has become our "go to " for pizza and salad.   They deliver to the cottage, and the pizza is amazing!

The Big Chill is great for kids and adults to enjoy casual dining, outdoor activities, and occasionally movie night/live music

Steamboat Grill, the 30A location is one of our favorites for a casual shrimp dinner and outdoor patio tables.  This is our favorite place for fried shrimp!

The Donut Hole is a must!   It serves not only delicious breakfast and great donuts, but great food all day!  A little more budget friendly as well

Goat feather's Seafood Market www.goatfeathersseafood.com   They steam shrimp for free and the market also has a variety of other fish, scallops, snow crabs, etc.  

Old Florida Fish House http://www.oldfloridafishhouse.com  is always a reliable favorite for a nice dinner and great outdoor area

Café 30A http://cafethirtya.com is a nice treat for dinner.  Make reservations!

Vue on 30A has beautiful Gulf views and a patio for more casual dining

Pescado in Rosemary Beach is a fav with locals for brunch

Shade's Bar & Grill https://shades30a.com is a fun restaurant or great for take-out after a day at the beach, a favorite of locals!

The Bay, Enjoy brunch bayside or dinner with live music.   A local fav!

The Red Bar www.theredbar.com in Grayton Beach is a  restaurant/bar and the hot spot for great food

Bud & Alley’s in Seaside https://www.budandalleys.com It has a great roof top bar or a beautiful downstairs dining room.

The Great Southern Café  http://www.thegreatsoutherncafe.com is in our top ten and will take reservations and walk ins

Stinky's Fish Camp is a local favorite for seafood!   Get there early

Shunk Gulley in Gulf Place has a great view and lively atmosphere while enjoying lunch or dinner.  Across the street is Shelby's and it's a great outdoor spot for drinks, snacks such as pimento cheese wontons, nachos etc. before lunch or dinner.  Enjoy sitting on the outdoor patio!

Local Catch is a local favorite and has great seafood, salads, tacos etc.

Redfish Tacos has really good quesadillas, tacos, and guacamole and offers patio seating with live music in the evenings. Casual.

Blue Mountain Creamery IS A MUST!  Cash only, flavors change daily, and it is SO good.   Always a line, but worth the wait!

Check out North Beach Social, Cracking's, The Perfect Pig, Big Bear Bread Co., there are SO many great food places along 30A!

            

Shopping:

Many wonderful shops and boutiques along 30A.   Great little shops in Rosemary Beach, including a Bookstore to pick up a beach read.  

Shops at Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach, include Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, Tommy Bahama, which also has a great restaurant inside.

Pier Park Shopping Center http://www.simon.com/mall/pier-park is just 10 miles east on Hwy 98.  It features Target, Dillard’s, JC Penney, the Grand Theatre, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, Back Porch Seafood and lots more.  

Silver Sands http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/silver-sands/stores is an outlet mall located in Destin.  Located about 20 mile west on Hwy 98. 

                             

Medical:

Our only personal experience has been with Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Miramar, about 19 miles away, and we had a great experience there.

Bike/Running Trails:

All along 30A is a trail for bikes and runners.   There are several state parks in the area that have good trails and beautiful beaches.   Check out Butterfly trail on Watersound Parkway as well!  Many local bike shops will reserve, drop off, and pick up to meet your schedule.  Frankie's, Peddler's Pavilion etc.

 

Grocery Stores:

A new Publix is located at Watersound Parkway and Hwy 98, about 1.2 miles from the cottage.  Highly recommend Instacart for quick delivery.

Car and Jeep Rentals: 

It's very easy to rent a Jeep or Car for a day or several days and they will drop off and pick up at the cottage.
